Blame it on the rain, yeah yeah!
Bikin' along... on me way to work... ze rain nearly got me... but I escaped it, WUAHAHAHAAAAA....
Congrats to Beggó and her family on the new arrival :) Big kiss and hug! How 'bout some photos, fair maiden??!!
Weekend awesome. Abdul, the parents and I got lost in Fjallbak Nature Reserve :) But the scenery was unbelievable! With every twist and turn in the road, something new caught our eye, projecting a series of 'ooooh's and 'aaaaaah's from everyone. The two black 'dowgs' were with us, very well behaved. The weather couldn't have been better, sunshine and 21°C! Obviously would have been nice to spend it outside the car but I think it was worth it.
Abdul was well impressed with the Dad's driving skills and knowledge of obscure trails in the Icelandic highlands. The rest of us knew we were lost. So, finally when we saw a sign, the three icelanders cheered and said "Finally we'll know where we are and where to go!!". Then, Abu said in the most surprised voice: "We were lost???!!" HEE HEE HEE HEE!!! :D
One thing has to be said. After driving through the nature reserve, it's absolutely shocking and saddening to see the lack of respect for nature (not to mention the law). Motorbike- and cartracks were everywhere! People had obviously been VERY busy driving off the trails and destroying the little vegetative cover in their paths. These wounds in nature NEVER heal. We were looking at tracks several decades old. Also VERY fresh ones, most likely from the previous day. People are stupid. It's obviously not enough to put up an information board stating the freakin' law and pointing out the obvious. YOU ARE IN A NATURE RESERVE!
Ok, had to get that off my chest.
We went fishing yesterday, in Brúará. Old family fishing area. We were fishing for
Arctic Charr, but as you may know, the Char is a particularly picky fish and highly unpredictable. So, needless to say, we didn't catch a thing. But it was enjoyable, nontheless.
I guess this was the last chance this summer for Abu and I to go travelling in Iceland. Hopefully we will have other opportunities, some other summer. :)
