Fréttir frá Raggamuffin

Ég talaði við Elísabetu í dag (mömmu Röggu) og þau höfðu heyrt í henni. Stelpan er s.s. komin á áfangastað og ætlar að eyða helginni með "Katsjo", vini hennar síðan í Guinea-Bissau. Þannig að, all is well í landi Raggamuffin! :) Go girl!

Courageously small am I...

My crappy little elf name is Chipboard Granitebottom.
What's yours?

NEWSFLASH: Afrodite has opened her eyes!!!! :D Three cheers for her!! HURRAH HURRAH HURAAAAAAH!

She is the cutest thing EVER since her eyes opened! She's the one with the red ribbon, if you ever see any colours... I will try to get a close-up of her to put online. But it's not easy, she is very squirmy :)

Thursday...

Tomorrow is the day of my step-dad's 50th b-day. We're gonna have a party! Party Party Party!
The puppies are getting cuter by the day, it's going to be so hard to leave them!!! :( Just 4 days until departure! So much to do, so little time!

Bond, James Bond

I was watching Thunderball, an oldie Bond, with Sean Connery. He's cool. I did find the movie, however, and perhaps this is blasphemy, quite boring. It was drawn out, the action scenes were confusing and weak, his seduction scenes were too short, the women were character-less, the evil guy was not evil enough. Is this what the modern, high-quality, high-powered, effect-filled movies are doing for us? Ruining the golden oldies? Or were they just not that good to begin with? Pause for thought.

On another note, some scenes were quite funny (not the funny ones, though)... he was scuba-diving in one scene and he was wearing something that looked like an orange, latex-zip-up corselette, with long sleeves. Underneath, he was wearing white boxers. VERY SEXY!!

New photos!

I have just put in new photos of the puppies, you'll find them at the back of the Perla-album. They just get cuter every day, I dont' know how it's possible, but they just do! Their ears are growing now, they are all gaining weight and drinking their mum dry! I could just sit there for hours and watch them!

Well, gotta get to work.

Working 8-8

Nightshifts. 3 in a row. Gives me time to watch really crappy D-movies on telly and The Pink Panther DVD collection.
Weather sucks. I'm sleepy.

Beggó, Ragga and I went out for my birthday-dinner tonight! :) It was great! We went to the East-Indian Company and what great food they have! Yummy! This was the first official meeting of the Graceland-club, est. a long time ago :D Posted by Hello

NEW PHOTOLINKS!

Finally, the photos from our trip in August have been revealed. We started off in England, made our way over to Budapest in Hungary, then took the train to Bucharest in Romania and swiftly left the city to explore the beautiful countryside. From there we took another train to Istanbul and spent the rest of the trip wandering around mosques, ancient ruins and eating :) Check out the pics, they are amazing! Mind you, compliment is due where deserved. Abdul set all the pics up on the net and put the captions in. It seems he's favoured his own photos there (bastard!) but several of mine have also found their way in there, somehow. Actually, in the end we just carried around one camera at a time, as carrying two was a waste of energy and a useless risk, in case of theft or damage. Some of the photos carry the distinct signature of the Abdul (his favourite, "trick photography") and others are distinctly mine (closeups of flowers and suchlike).
ENJOY!

Puppies are gaining weight!

Things are looking up :) They both gained 25 grams between weigh-ins, which is the same as the other puppies. But Adonis is still the biggest at 375 grams!
Beggó, Ragga and I are planning to go out to dinner, it's my b-day pressie :) A belated one, but better a belated one than a no-one! What a philosophy.

NEW PICS OF THE PUPPIES! Check out the folder on the right side bar.

Trouble in the world of puppy

Two of the puppies, Afrodite and Apollo, are not gaining weight as they should and they are not as strong as the others. We need to keep a VERY close eye on them. Mum and I were trying to give them some puppy formula with a bottle, but they just made faces and spit it out again. I guess they don't like it. :( Darn. There's enough to worry about with the 6 of them...

The world of puppy

Pearl is really being a mother... she woke me up about 6 times last night! Needed to go out pee... or she was just bored and wanted me to participate in the puppy-care.

The puppies have been weighed in today, Afrodite and Apollo need to be cared after extra well as they haven't gained as much weight as they should have. Very little, in fact. We need to watch that they are not being pushed away by the stronger pups or that they are sleeping too much. Hopefully this is just a slow start for them and they'll pick up weight soon.

The weather sucks. It's a stay-in-and-eat kinda day. Also, the broken sleep I've had since last thursday is affecting my energy levels.

Puppies squeaking, must go tend them.

mánudagur, september 20, 2004

And we now have names!!

Mum and I sat down and created a journal for the puppies, and came up with names. The rationale behind them is the following: It is a first-litter for Merkurlautar-breeding, therefore all the puppy-breed names will start with the letter 'A'. We decided upon god-like names, as the puppies are PERFECT in any way :) And then we just went by alphabetical order.
1st born girl: Afrodite
2nd born girl: Ambrosia
3rd born girl: Athena
4th born boy: Adonis
5th born boy: Apollo
6th born boy: Atlas

Today they are all over 250 grams, and have gained weight since yesterday :) All is well in the land of Dog.

I also added a few more photos taken today of the doggies.

Cosmetic Surgery Live

I can't believe I am watching this vile telly-material! It's unbelievably gross! One of the cosmetic surgeons interviewed said with his Hollywood-smile: "With the advancements today in plastic surgery, it scares me to think how beautiful people will be in 10-15 years time! It will be a beautiful society." Uuuuuh... I thought it already was beautiful! Variety is the spice of life?! If everyone has the same smile, capped teeth, chin implants, lifted eye lids, botoxed foreheads, collagen lips and raised D-cup boobs (yes, D-cup is apparently the absolute minimum size), how interesting will people be?! No characteristics. Bah-humbug!!
Oh, and the latest thing is titanium boob job! A titanium mesh is inserted to the lower half of the boob... apparently supporting it. Setting off metal detectors, anyone??! :D
Groooooooss!!! Vaginal tightening, g-spot enhancement... what is wrong with people!?

Update from Pearl:

She doesn't do anything except nurse, clean up pee and poo, lick them, rearrange them... have the occational drink of water and be forced to go out peeing.

New photo album

We shall keep track of the puppies in the new album on the bar to the right and try and put in new photos every day!

You can see here how small they are in comparison to her. But she is so gentle with them. The combined weight of the puppies was 1,3 kg!! That's not counting the placentas, water and membranes! No wonder she looked like a barrel for the last week or so :D Posted by Hello

All six born, and Perla doing what she does best, licking!! What tiny creatures! :)) Posted by Hello

Perla during her first moments of motherhood :) Only two puppies born, 4 to go!  Posted by Hello

Another one!

Another one just came!!! Six puppies, first came three girls, then came 3 boys! Wow! Fingers crossed there won't be more! I think six is quite enough. When these guys are 8 weeks old, mum will have 4 adult dogs and 6 puppies to take care of. Holy cr...!!! This is going to be one active household!

Perla is a mum!!

There was panting, there was whining and groaning... scratching and licking, vomiting, excessive peeing and pooing... but the fruits of her labour are 5 GORGEOUS puppies!! Three girls, 2 boys. There may be a 6th puppy yet to come, we are not sure. But they are all alive, squeaking away and trying to get their mum to sit still and stop licking them so that they can start suckling! She's done so well, she's eaten all the placentas and the membranes, licked them all nice and clean (some would say a bit overenthusiastic licking, but then again, licking has always been Perla's forte) and makes sure she circles herself around them, sometimes causing one or two to end up underneath her. Five puppies in 2 hours?! Not bad for little miss first-time-mum!

Oh this is SOOOOOO exciting!! :D Tino, the new dad, is rather complacent about the whole thing. Miro, on the other hand, is a little too excited about seeing the puppies. He won't get near them any time soon. You never know what a jealous man might do when he finds out these pups are not his! Dumm dumm dumm dumm! Sounds like a bad soap-opera :D

laugardagur, september 18, 2004

Perla is becoming a mother!!

It's all happening now! She's been making a "nest" tonight, has barely eaten, just lays there and does strange pushing movements. Her temperature has dropped to 36,9 degrees Celcius... apparently that means it's all systems go :) My parent's come home tomorrow morning, the plane lands at 6 am. So, there's a chance they'll miss their first 'grandchildren' being born!

There's a party tonight... a farewell-party for Ragga, amongst other things. I guess I will only go for a couple of hours. The rest of the night will be spent playing 'midwife'.

I am watching a program on polar bears. The momma-bear is teaching her baby-bear to hunt baby seals. I wonder if Greenpeace knows about this going on!

Quote of the day: "What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!"

I HATE EVIL WEATHER!!!

Last night (and still) we had the first real autumn gale force winds. I HATE IT!! It kept me up most of the night, I had to go out TWICE to fix the gate into the garden as it kept opening and swinging against the house. Lovely to experience that. AAAAAAAARGH! And now, I am grumpier than ever.

I'm going back to bed, this weather can go stuff itself!

Wednesday is windy

Ragga kjúklingaæta og avókadó-eldari er komin heim! Velkomin heim Raggamuffin! :) Sé þig á eftir!

I am going to bake a cake for tonight's boardgame club. Oh, I am such a housewife! This is what happens when one has no employment and only the dogs keep one company. You turn into a housewife, with an apron, and a perpetual dusting twitch in one's hand. I wonder if it's reversible. But then again, do I want it to be reversed? I quite like this housewife feeling. I think I might make it my profession. How much do housewives get paid? What are the benefits and health insurances? I think I might join the Housewives' Union. But first, le supermarché pour le cake!

Check out my bro's blog. He's experiencing quite a lot in his first weeks in France. Going through the exchange-student motions. Soon to be over, though, as it changes quite rapidly when one 'settles down' and makes it one's home.

I look... interesting today. I am going to put on a bit of makeup.

Update of my world...

10% of the world visited, 23 countries. Still quite a few to go! :) Hopefully I can add Mexico on to my list soon!

create your own visited country map
or write about it on the open travel guide

Last night...

...or early morning... I'm not sure. Anyways, it was about 4:30 am. I was driving the grandparents to the airport. The sky was clear, the stars were out. The northern lights were dancing around (o yeah! First of the season!) as the day broke over the mountains in the north. Picture-perfect. The blue ocean reflecting the colours of the sky, the mountains appearing as black profiles, the skyline in the north showing all colours from red to pink to yellow to blue, further south the sky was still black with twinkling stars and northern lights... it was like magic! So, even though I was physically exhausted, I was mentally replenished :) I then went back to bed and slept almost non-stop until 11! The dogs were obviously tired, too :) otherwise, they would have kicked my butt out of bed hours ago! I was kinda counting on them to wake me at a less obscene hour. Never mind.

I'm watching this true-story movie about 3 aborigines girls who trecked through the outback, for 1100 miles. They were running away from some horrid, english state-run institution for aborigine children, and they made it home! They were "halfcasts" as said in the movie. Nasty! "The bush-natives have to be protected against themselves. If only they would understand what we are trying to do for them.", said the Chief Protector of The Aborigines. Until 1970, children were forcibly removed from their families. Horrid horrid horrid!!! It makes me sick to the stomach to imagine what went on in Australia (and still goes on in some parts of the world).

Why are humans so evil?!

Too heavy. Must go outside.

Fröken Ragnheiður Reynisdóttir...

...avókadó-eldari og heimshornaflakkari kemur heim á miðvikudagsmorgun! :D Úje! Giggidigiggidigiggidigiggidi (á la Quagmire, þið sem þekkið Family Guy!)

Monday, bloody Monday...

Well, it's not so bloody at all. In fact it's a beautiful day! Sun is shining, no wind, fresh, crisp air (read: not too hot!), great day to wash the car and walk the dogs.

We had our first touch of groundfrost last night. OOOH! Which means what?! Winter is around the corner, with his icy grip and northern lights! Woohoo! If you haven't seen a good display of northern lights, in green, pink and white, you're missing out, mate! HAH!

Grampa and I went with the dogs up to Hólmsheiði (a heathland area just outside Reykjavik) and breathed in the sun, the view and the fresh air, picked crowberries and bilberries and saw a single ptarmigan. It was a lovely walk.

Poor Pearl is growing bigger and bigger by the day! Last night, one of the puppies was laying in such a way that I could feel it right underneath her skin! It was sooo cool!

Last night I met up with some girlfriends since primary and secondary school (Erla, Pála, Ingunn and Adda). It was so nice to see them all. We try to do this on a regular basis and have been fairly successful so far! Erla mentioned if we would have believed it, had someone said to us when we were 14 or whatever that in 14 years time, we'd all still be friends and be discussing the various aspects of our semi-grown-up lives :) All of us seem to have something exciting going on, it's good to know that none of us is stuck in a rut or a dead-end job :) Then again, some of us don't have a job! (Won't mention names, but the first letter of the name is Björg!!)

Which brings me to another point.. I hate not having money. I hate it so much, I am willing to work for it!

sunnudagur, september 12, 2004

Many of you have been wondering to where I am moving. So, I composed a map! No, actually, I got this from Mapquest online. Initially we will be living in Aliso Viejo, marked on the map with a red star, just under Laguna Hills. I also marked the two big cities, SD and LA. We are mid-way between the two, aprox. an hour each way. The county is Orange County (like the show The O.C!!) and is full of O.C.-like people :D  Posted by Hello

Oh what a beautiful moooorning...

Nothing beats waking up and having to clean up dogpoo. My mother's freak-dog, Perla, is sooooo difficult! I take her out a gazillion times a day, she refuses to go out sometimes, so I have to carry her or pull her. Then she may or may not go to the toilet and as seemed to happen here, she didn't want to poo outside, so when we went to sleep, she used the opportunity and pooed on the floor in the bedroom!! Why doesn't she wake me and asks to go out? She wakes me every morning at 8 am, why couldn't she do the same now?! She never actually asks to go out, I just routinely take her out every hour or so. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHRHG!! This really made my day.

Joan and George called earlier on, they were doing fine. Always nice to hear from them :) It's nice when people remember to call you (HINT HINT, Abdul!)

This is just disgusting...

Please take a look at this link, it's stomach-turning and revolting. I do realise PETA aren't exactly PC nor do I approve of their policies a lot of the time. But then again, KFC and other fast-food chains aren't PC either and I certainly don't approve of their policies or sales tactics. So, maybe you need one extreme to face another extreme.

KFC Cruelty!!!

How is this possible???

I feel like I am hung over, after drinking just a bit more than a small beer!!! How is that even possible?!

Statement of the day: Marlon Brando was a stud!!
Sub-statement of the day: Brad Pitt looks better today than he did when he was in 21 Jumpstreet with Johnny Depp. Rationale = age and maturity is sexier than skinny-bony baby-looks.

More photos!!

Check out this link of photos from Iceland :) Abdul's perception of Iceland

After a nice VISA-party tonight, Beggó and I went out for a beer (was only a small one!) as we were sitting at the café, quietly chatting, an old man (absolutely off his chair!) came and just invited himself to sit down. He was just rambling on about how great he thought it was for us to be lesbians (he really believed that Beggó and I were live-together lesbo-couple!) and how much he respected women and blah blah blah. Then he just got really touchy-feely and insisted on shaking our hands, kissing us on the cheeck. I would have none of it but then he got cross and asked why I was so "stiff", as he so nicely put it. I pointed out to him that I didn't like to be touched without being asked permission (of course the main reason was that he was a drunken, old man, I didn't know him and he was just plain nasty and WAY too gross!) but then he got all upset! Eventually he did leave and started harrassing someone else. Today's drunk was sponsored by Beck's.

Why do some men just become so disgusting when drinking alcohol? There should be a law against it.

After drinking that half beer, I got such a craving for a 'pulsa með öllu' (hotdog with everything!) so we went to Bæjarins Bestu and I devoured one :) Yummy! No weightloss this week.

It's nearly 1 am, I had better go to bed.

Haukur has a blog!

His misadventures in France are now documented on blogspot. Check out the link below on the right.

ATTENTION READERS!

Make sure you guys regularly check out the link on the right hand side, under "New Photos". I have been uploading new ones regularly (slowly slowly... Abdul is still rationing me!!!) and some very cool ones were just uploaded from our trip!

DING DING DING DING!!!!

The sound of my ovaries after today's visit!! Ooh, cute 7 month old twins, all smiles and chubby legs with GORGEOUS blue eyes! :) I wonder if the parents would notice if one of them would disappear... hmmm... (plot forming...) The twins in question are Össur Anton and Andrea Örvars- and Guðrúnarbörn. The oldest, Kristín Hekla (3 years since May) was unavailable due to a very busy schedule at the kindergarten ;) What a funny situation... Guðrún and Örvar have lived in the states for the past 8 years. I have never gotten my ass out there to visit them. So, finally when I am going that way, they have moved back to Iceland! Damnit! Isn't that just typical?!

Poor Pearl is so preggos! I can really feel the puppies moving about now. She's close now...

25 days to CA!

miðvikudagur, september 08, 2004

The useless thing...

...that is hickup. Who the hell invented hickups!? Probably the same one who invented the appendix. I have been suffering from BAD hickups today, from the moment I woke up, throughout my gym-time, while on the phone with various people (causing several uncomfortable hickup moments and giggling) and on and off during the afternoon.

Beggó and I went to see the Icelandic movie "Dís", pretty good! It really made us laugh. It was also especially entertaining because we were familiar with the girls who wrote the script and some of the actresses. Not to mention the various dilemmas and mental anguishes "Dís" went through. Being so normal, she's abnormal, not knowing what she wants to be when she grows up, it's all familiar!

Mmmm... the turkish apple tea I bought is so good! I should have bought more of it! Sluuuurrrp!

Oh oh oh! Some nasty episode on the "Superbug" in hospitals is on! Alright! Nasty, gory, gross stuff!

þriðjudagur, september 07, 2004

NEW PHOTOS!!!

Seems the Abdul is releasing his vice-like grip on the photos! He's sent a few my way from the films he's exposed since he came to Iceland in April this year. Most of them are pretty nice, others are just plain weird :) but coming from the Abduche, it's not surprising! MOAHAHAHHAAAA.... !!!

Hurricane season

The parents are off to Orlando... to meet Frances. And whoever comes after him. Apparently, electricty and water has been restored in Winter Park, so they unpacked all the bottles of water and the generators. While they are away, I shall doggy-care and have the car! :D WUAAHAHHAAAA.... I can feel the rush of car-power!
Ooh ooh ooh! The Simpsons are on!

Some of you have been wondering what a Dumle is... here you go. This is a Dumle. They are a wonderful caramel, soft, creamy and chewy, with wonderfully chocolaty coating... mmmm... I believe they are Swedish...  Posted by Hello

That horse NEEDED a chocolate bisquit! It was so funny, it just wouldn't give up! And when we started the car and were about to leave, he stood in front of the car and didn't budge! Quite a stubborn thing! But most amuzing :) Taken somewhere en-route to Fjaðrárgil in Iceland. Posted by Hello

PHOTOS!!!

Enjoy them, my friends! And there is more to come!

I have decided that dentists are the masters of pain. Wether they like it or not, they inflict pain. I think some of them do enjoy it, make you believe that you NEED this or that done, and then they take advantage of your trust! It's like going to the doctors'... "Sit down, breathe normally. Look this way, stand on one leg, bark like a dog... " and before you know it, you're on all four, dressed up in a peacock's outfit, meaowing like a cat! ...or is that just me?!!!

What a smile! She's really enjoying herself there, on the merry-go-round in the Family Park and Petting Zoo (Húsdýragarðurinn). Posted by Hello

Little miss Laufey, the cutest girl in town! She likes her ice cream!  Posted by Hello

A few pics!

Seems like the Abdul released his vice-like grip on the photos! So, here are a few from the trip :) I particularly like the one of me, showing my best side EVER!

Atilla's Getaway, the coolest backpackers in Turkey! What a great place. We spent several days there, thoroughly enjoying ourselves and frollicking in the pool. Posted by Hello

Have a nargylah! Apple flavour, rather interesting! Posted by Hello

Here we are, climbing into a cave in the Transylvanian Alps. I left shortly after that photo was taken, the cave was WAY too deep for me!  Posted by Hello

This is me demonstrating to Abdul how I perceive him eating. The bastard snapped a photo of me!!  Posted by Hello

After a great trip, we were able to spend a day with our friends, George and Joan in Good Easter, UK. They had prepared a fantastic meal... what a treat! It's always so enjoyable to visit them :) Posted by Hello

Isn't it amazing...

...just how brilliant these webcams are?! You can make faces at your friends from across the globe! Absolutely amazing! ;) There's no escaping my fancy face now!

I am so proud of myself, I have been going to the gym on a regular basis since I came home! I intend to get my arse into better shape and about time! It's still going well, so thumbs up for me and my arse!

The parents are going to Orlando on Tuesday, provided there will be flights! Seems like hurricane Frances is taking his time (well, anyone called Frances is BOUND to take his time and just chill!!) and may not have windswept Orlando enough, according to him. Bloody hurricanes, always interrupting everyone's plans!

Abdul is hogging the photos from our trip!!!! The evil evil bas#$#&%!!!!! So, I don't know how they are, but according to him they are great! I'll have to wait 29 days to see them! TWENTY-NINE DAYS!!! Bloody hell!

I'll just have to entertain myself until then!

föstudagur, september 03, 2004

Friday...

...with nothing to do. The parents are off on a charity-dinner, Haukur has gone to France for a year, Beggó is unavailable... so it's just the dogs, Ásgeir and I. It's amazing how aimless and 'drifting' I feel, as I am just waiting for a certain date (the CA-date). Talking of dates, I have now changed my departure date. I am leaving for California on the 4th of October. While I'm here, I'll be at my stepdad's 50th birthday celebration, for Pearl's puppies and I'll catch Ragga for a bit longer than a day and half for her brief visit to the country. The cons are I won't get to see my Aboo for another 4 weeks!! Also, Kate and Houdin had made arrangements for having me over, but now I am basically blowing them off. I feel really bad about that. But a rare family gathering is quite important to me.

We still have daylight between 5:30 and 21:00. HAHAH!

fimmtudagur, september 02, 2004

Lack of photos...

...makes Bjorg go potty!
Abdul took all the rolls of film from our trip to CA to get them developed. He's already got them and has been going through them! I want to see!!! Damnit! And he's not sending any my way.... MRRRRD!

My tan is slipsliding away, more and more every day. By the time I get back to the sunshine, I'll be as pasty-white as I was last winter :)

Perla is getting bigger by the day, poor baby! Her belly is swaying down towards the ground, gravity is definitely setting in! She's due on 21st September, so not long now!

My brother's renezvouz with France

There's a farewell-party tonight for my brother Haukur. He's going away for a year to France on Friday! It's great that he's doing it, but it's going to be so hard to say good bye to him. I remember when I left... in 1993!!!! OMG! Time sure flies when you're having fun! :D
